Talking Cars 413: Driving the Mercedes-Benz EQE Electric Sedan

Plus, what’s the equivalent of “miles per gallon” for an electric car?

Main theme: We just bought a Mercedes-Benz EQE 350 4Matic sedan—an all-electric car that’s sized like an E-Class and shaped (and powered) like a smaller version of the EQS ultraluxury electric car. For $80,000, we were expecting a lot of car—but so far haven’t figured out just why it’s so expensive. We were left wondering, can Mercedes compete in the new electric era?

Audience question: How can you tell how efficient an electric car is? We’re all familiar with miles per gallon, but for EVs I see measurements in miles per kilowatt-hour (kWh), kWh per 100 miles, and miles per gallon equivalent (MPGe). How are consumers supposed to compare?
